Gubinge is the Nyul Nyul language name for the Kimberley version of the Kakadu Plum which is also called the Billygoat Plum or Murunga. The fruit has been a traditional source of bush tucker, antiseptic and a healing remedy for the Indigenous people across Arnhem Land for thousands of years. Today the trees are still in great abundance and come to fruit usually at the start of the dry season in May each year.
Gubinge has been identified as the natural source food with the highest vitamin C content on the planet containing 3g of vitamin C per 100g of fruit - over 50 times the concentration found in oranges. Our dried Gubinge has a minimum of 13% Vitamin C.
Gubinge contains phytochemicals such as gallic and ellagic acids. Gallic acid has antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal activities and also shows anti-inflammatory, anti-tumour, anti-mutagenic and anti- bronchodilatory activities. Ellagic acid has anti-carcinogenic effects against a wide range of carcinogens.
Our Gubinge is wildharvested from the Dampier Peninsula just north of Broome. Bruno Dann (Winnawal) is bringing back to his community the ancestral traditional ways of taking care of the land and the Gubinge trees, which is helping restore the amazing bush in this region. Loving Earth has processed the fresh fruit simply by dehydrating it at 40ºC for 16 hours and then milling it into a powder. All the profits that we receive from the sale of this product will be sent back to the Nyul Nyul community in the Kimberleys.

Serving Suggestions: Many people have stopped using large dosages of synthetic Vitamin C because they find that just 1 to 2 grams (1 tspn) of gubinge powder is highly effective in strengthening the immune system. It has the additional benefit of being non-irritating to sensitive stomachs and bladders. Add to water, juices, smoothies, cereals, desserts, bars, and yoghurt.
